Wingate – Alton Guy “Junior” Haas, 76, a lifelong Wingate resident, died Saturday morning Dec 22, 2007 in his home, following a short illness.  Born March 6, 1931, in Fountain County, he was the son of the late Alton W. and Elizabeth MinickHaas. He was a 1949 graduate of Wingate HS where he was active in sports.  He was married to Loretta Lou Hunsinger in Seymour on Oct 22, 1950 and she survives.  Mr. Haas had been a self-employed trucker for 51 years, serving local farmers and elevators, transporting grain and livestock. He was a 62-yeaer member of Pleasant Hill Church in Wingate, where he served as treasurer for 30 years.  For 15 years, he was treasurer of the Spartan Group which owns the Spartan Inn of Wingate. He served 40 years as sec-treas of Greenlawn Cemetery in Wingate.  He served 40 years as secretary-treasurer of Greenlawn Cemetery in Wingate.  He served as an officiant at many funeral services over the years and was involved in Souls for Christ & Gideon International. He was an avid sports fan and was particularly interested in supporting the best interests of the Wingate community. Surviving with his wife are a son, Rick J. Haas (wife: Becky) of Lafayette and Robin Guyann Haas of Wingate; two stepsisters: Pat Oswalt (husband: Harold) of Wingate and Rev Myers (husband: Bob) of Robinson, Ill.  Visitation will be held at Family & Friends Funeral Home of Wingate, 3-8 p.m. Wednesday Dec 26.  Funeral services will be held at Family & Friends Funeral Home of Wingate at 11 a.m. Thursday Dec 27 with Pastor Joe Perry officiating. Interment Greenlawn Cemetery, Wingate. Surviving are 5 grandchildren: Darren Haas, Kami Harris, Derek Holman, Kelly Tuntland, Robert Beck Jr; 10 great grandchildren, Tayla, Demi and Huttson Jack Alton Haas, Dawson Holman, Nici Grimes, Dominic, Victoria and Tyler Guy Tuntland, Hadley and Grant Harris. He was preceded in death by his twin sister, Alga “Jean” Essick, a sister, Deloris Davis and a brother, Darrell. Junior was a devout Christian.
